Teri Welch from Forrestfield Photographics and Louise Hamilton from the Forrestfield Community Bank organised a “Shave Off” at the Forrestfield Forum Shopping Centre on 13th March, 2009. Teri had her hair clipped to a #1 in memory of her father who passed away due to complications caused by leukaemia 10 years ago. Louise clipped off about 15 inches of her luxurious locks. Shaving the hair off wasn’t as hard as we thought it would be, after all how brave are the people who go through leukaemia and other cancers. Ours really are just pretty radical hair cuts. All money raised will be used to care for patients and to research into better treatments and hopefully cures for blood cancers, such as leukaemia and lymphoma. Visit www.leukaemia.org.au to learn more about the work of the Leukaemia Foundation. The “Shave Off” was a huge success with almost $5,000 raised between them both. Louise and Teri would like to personally thank everyone who attended the “Shave Off”, everyone who jumped in and coloured and shaved for the cause and especially everyone who generously donated much needed funds for leukaemia research. What an amazing community we live in, so much was given from our community for the Victorian Bush Fires, Purple Bra Day for Breast Cancer Research and now this amazing amount for Leukaemia Research. Our community is blessed with compassionate, giving and generous spirited people. Thank you once again to everyone who participated, who donated and who have helped us all achieve our goal.
